Thermo Fisher Scientific Kiel IV carbonate preparation device
The Kiel IV carbonate preparation device allows for the analysis of small carbonate samples on our Thermo Fisher Scientific MAT253 mass spectrometer.
Thermo Fisher Scientific MAT253
Industry standard for gas isotope ratio mass spectrometry. The current multi-collector setup allows for standard isotopic measurements for stable Carbon and Oxygen.

Centrifuge
A centrifuce is available for sediment separation and grain analyses.
Microscopy
Several Zeiss stereo-microscopes are available for foraminiferal tests picking and counting, and for sample preparation.
Milliq water generator
Microbalance Sartorius
The laboratory is equipped with two Sartorious micro-balance capable to resolve 10-6 g and 10-3 g.
Sensors
For field research, the laboratory is equipped with a series of sensors and tracker for weather monitoring, water and atmospheric physical parameters.
Freeze dryer
The laboratory is equipped with a high performance freeze dryer capable of drying materials without heating.
Ovens
A high temperature oven and two high volume drying oven are available for high temperature sample preparation for the XRF analyzer and for sample drying.
Washing machine
An industrial Miele washing machine is available for high efficiency and static-free glass washing, mainly used for cleaning the Kiel IV sample vials.
Ultrasound
An ultrasonic bath is available for sample preparation and for other cleaning procedure.
Refrigerated container
The laboratory is equipped with a refrigerated 6 meters container for long term storage of archive and sampling halves sediment cores.
Library
The lab has a library with a large variety of textbooks on geology, paleoceanography and paleoclimatology.
Power generator
